I created this “limited edition” coin collection as a satire to the already existing “hero” collections there have been previously created, celebrating and commemorating historical milestones such as the bicentennial of Mexico´s Independence and the centenary of the Mexican Revolution. This project resulted in the creation of a coin collection displayed on a hand, custom made plywood box which contains two sets of the 6 coin collection in two different displays and 6 profile cards that contain relevant information about the subjects (general information, career information and the bad things they have done which is the reason they are part of this collection), labelled as “foreigner card” as an explanation to the subject’s place in the coins and within the collection, for the viewer to understand what the collection means and what each coin contributes to the overall message. This is assumed to be looked at by people from all over the world, even though its target audience is Mexicans.
